Let's let the guy we're investigating decide whether we can publish what we find out. Nothing wrong with that, right!?

"These documents, which were gathered and created as part of the Wilkinson investigation, were stored on servers of a third-party vendor, where they remain. Now, after the NFL's withdrawal from the agreement, each party claims that absent the other's consent, they cannot access the documents, let alone release them to the Committee. By dissolving their common interest agreement and withholding consent, the parties may be attempting to create a legal limbo to stop the Committee from obtaining these key investigation documents."

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has previously contended that the league cannot release the internal investigation because Wilkinson presented her findings orally.

Seems like the solution is just to subpoena her, if she was able to present her findings orally once she can surely do it again!

Not if it was a condition of his cooperation with the investigation, no.

What's fun about slander and libel laws is that there's a higher bar when the victim is a public figure. That one believed what was said to be true is also a legal defense. Finally, the damage to one's reputation need be proven; if someone's of sufficiently ill repute, there can be no damage proven.

Daniel Snyder is an NFL owner, and a notorious asshole and bigot; so points 1 & 3 hold. The only question is about "belief that it's true."

While he's within his legal right to withhold cooperation of the release, it's fair game for the court of public opinion to interpret that as a confirmation that no part of the report counters the claims against him.

May he be afforded no courtesy or mercy for the remainder of his days.

I’ve read that the NFL did not need his cooperation for the investigation because of the rules that owners have contractually agreed to abide by. If that's true and they gave it to him anyway, I think that tells you what you need to know about the true purposes of the 'investigation'.

Another tell will be what happens with Grudin's lawsuit, because the other side of his problematic correspondence with the Washington Football Team has never been revealed, but it’s hard to see how that will continue to be the case if it goes to trial. In other words, look for the NFL to settle and Grudin and his heirs to be quite comfortable.
